Here's What Anthony Hopkins Had to Say About Saudi Arabia

Two-time Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Joy Awards in Riyadh, making a public appearance and earning a standing ovation.

Known for his roles in films like "Silence of the Lambs" and "The Father," Hopkins addressed the audience, expressing his feelings about Saudi Arabia.

"I wish I could speak your language but I’ll have to speak English," he said in his speech.

"I want to thank everyone. This is my first trip to Saudi Arabia. My wife and my family are here. We are overwhelmed by your generosity, your grace, and the remarkable country that this is. I want to come back."

"At this time of my life, I’m just happy to wake up in the morning and realize I’m still here. But being bestowed this gift is an added honor. I’m sort of lost for words. I appreciate it and I love being here," he added.

He concluded his speech with a message of peace, particularly relevant amid ongoing conflicts in the region.

Hopkins is set to appear in the sequel to Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon," scheduled for release on Netflix in April. Snyder, also honored at the event, directed the first film where Hopkins voiced the character Jimmy.
