Saudi Arabia Tops MENA in E-Govt Services for Second Consecutive Year

Saudi Arabia has secured the top spot in the Government Electronic and Mobile Services Maturity Index for 2023, a ranking issued by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). This marks the Kingdom's second consecutive year at the forefront, boasting an impressive maturity score of 93 percent in the overall index.

Government's Digital Transformation Efforts Recognized

Eng. Ahmed Alsuwaiyan, Governor of the Digital Government Authority, attributes this international achievement to the diligent efforts of government agencies in the digital transformation. He emphasizes the crucial support the digital government ecosystem receives from wise leadership, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's goals of building a digital society and investing in cutting-edge technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency.

GEMS Index and Impressive Results:

Service Availability and Sophistication

Saudi Arabia excelled in the Service Availability and Sophistication indicator, achieving a maturity rate of 98 percent, showcasing a notable increase of +1 percent compared to 2022.

Service Usage and Satisfaction

In the Service Usage and Satisfaction indicator, the Kingdom achieved a high maturity rate of 84 percent, marking an impressive increase of +4.76 percent from the previous year.

Public Outreach

A significant milestone was reached in the Public Outreach indicator, with Saudi Arabia attaining a perfect score of 100 percent. This accomplishment signifies remarkable progress from 2022, with an increase rate of +13.52 percent.

Global Recognition and Continued Success

Saudi Arabia's achievements extend beyond the ESCWA index, as it recently secured the third position globally among 198 countries in the GOVTECH Maturity Index for 2022 issued by the World Bank. Additionally, the Kingdom achieved its highest historical result in the E-Government Development Index issued by the United Nations, a testament to its consistent commitment to technological advancements.

City of Riyadh's Technological Excellence

Notably, the city of Riyadh clinched the fourth position globally in the utilization of technology and its applications, earning a very high-rank classification among 193 cities worldwide. This further underscores Saudi Arabia's prominence on the global stage in leveraging technology for societal progress.
