Saudi Arabia Announces 50% Discount on Traffic Fines

The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia has introduced a new initiative offering a substantial reduction on outstanding fines incurred before April 18th.

Here's everything you need to know about this latest development in traffic regulations:

50% Reduction Offer

Drivers who have accumulated traffic fines prior to April 18th can avail themselves of a generous 50% discount on the total amount owed. This significant reduction applies to fines settled within a six-month window, providing motorists with an opportunity to rectify their violations at a reduced cost.

Terms and Conditions

While the discount offers welcome relief for many, there are certain conditions to consider. Violations committed after the implementation of this reduction will be subject to standard penalties outlined in Article 75 of the Traffic Law. Failure to settle fines within the specified timeframe may result in additional enforcement actions, including potential imprisonment.

Exclusions Apply

It's important to note that certain violations are not eligible for the 50% discount, including exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h on roads with a speed limit of 120 km/h or less. Additionally, violations posing a threat to public safety are exempt from the reduction.

Payment Process

When paying traffic fines in Saudi Arabia, drivers must adhere to the provisions outlined in Article 75 of the new traffic law. This includes applying the discount to violations, even if an objection has been filed. The 50% reduction is applicable exclusively to fines accumulated before April 18, while a 25% reduction applies to violations incurred after this date.

Limited-Time Offer

To take advantage of the 25% reduction for fines received after April 18, drivers must act swiftly, as the discount is only available for 45 days following the violation. An additional 30 days are granted for those who apply for the 90-day grace period through the Absher platform, allowing a total of 75 days to settle fines with a reduced penalty.

With these recent adjustments to traffic fine regulations, motorists in Saudi Arabia are encouraged to take advantage of the limited-time discounts offered by the Ministry of Interior. Whether settling outstanding fines or adhering to new traffic laws, drivers play a crucial role in promoting road safety and compliance across the kingdom.
