Saudi Arabia's Carrier Riyadh Air Unveils Airline's First Plane

The new upcoming Saudi Arabian carrier and second flag carrier, Riyadh Air, has unveiled the first of two livery designs on a Boeing 787-9.

However, it is still not clear if Riyadh Air plans to have a fleet with two different kinds of liveries, or if it is deciding between the designs.

The airline's design has vibrant purple and blue colour scheme. RIYADH AIR is written in big letters across the fuselage in white, and the carrier's logo is on the tail and engines.

Riyadh Air was unveiled in March 2023 and the airline announced an agreement to purchase 39 Boeing Dreamliners, with options for 33 more jets.

This acquisition could lead to 121 planes with options, which involves the Kingdom's Jeddah-based national carrier Saudia.

Riyadh Air will have its hub in Saudi Arabia's capital city, leveraging the country's strategic location to improve connectivity for passengers to over 100 destinations by 2030.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz considers aviation to be an important component of the "Vision 2030" agenda and he is hoping that annual traffic will triple to 330 million passengers by the end of the decade.
