Makkah Route Initiative Offers Luggage Coding, Sorting to Pilgrims

The Makkah Route initiative is offering coding and sorting of Hajj pilgrims' luggage to ensure that they are delivered to their places of residence in Makkah and Madinah.

The procedure of coding luggage is being conducted in the initiative's hall at the airports of the Hajj pilgrims.

The initiative's team sort the luggage and placing a label on each one that contains flight data, information about the pilgrims and their places of residence.

A label will also be placed on the cover of the passports and the pilgrims will be given a card containing the same information placed on their luggage.

The Makkah Route initiative has benefitted a total of 68, 721 pilgrims up until Wednesday, May 31st, during the current Hajj season.

This initiative includes issuing the visa for Hajj electronically and taking the vital characteristics. After that, the pilgrims pass through the complete passport procedures at the airport in the country of departure after their health requirements for Hajj have been verified.

It is implemented in sevem countries including Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, since its launch in 2019. The initiative is being implemented for the first time in Türkiye and the Ivory Coast in 2023.
