First Riyadh Air Flight Will Take Off on Monday

The first Riyadh Air flight will take off on Monday, June 12th, across the capital at low altitude.

The debut flight will see the new Riyadh Air plane flying along a path covering some of Riyadh's most iconic parts, including King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), Kingdom Tower and Al Faisaliah Tower.

The new upcoming Saudi Arabian carrier and second flag carrier has recently unveiled the first of two livery designs on a Boeing 787-9.

Backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Riyadh Air was unveiled in March 2023 and the airline announced an agreement to purchase 39 Boeing Dreamliners, with options for 33 more jets.

This acquisition could lead to 121 planes with options, which involves the Kingdom's Jeddah-based national carrier Saudia.

Riyadh Air will have its hub in Saudi Arabia's capital city, leveraging the country's strategic location to improve connectivity for passengers to over 100 destinations by 2030.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz considers aviation to be an important component of the "Vision 2030" agenda and he is hoping that annual traffic will triple to 330 million passengers by the end of the decade.
