Many Women Qualify to Drive the Haramain Express Train in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Railway Company has qualified 32 women as train drivers of the Haramain Express in the Haramain Express Train Leaders Program. 

Women like Tharaa Ali Al-Zahrani feel pride because they have secured jobs as train conductors. Al- Zahraani explained how when the railway company first announced the job opening in January 2022, she rushed to apply for the job and was accepted into the program after she passed her interview. The newly graduated train conductor elaborated on how she sees her job as a significant part of achieving the Vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia. 

Rotella Yasser Najjar shared how the leadership in Saudi Arabia has worked towards granting women access to work in various fields. Employing female conductors on the Haramain Express has been part of this effort because the train helps Hajj and Umrah pilgrims as well as visitors of the Grand Mosque, which means that it allows these female conductors to serve their country like women in other fields. 

As a recent graduate of the training program, Raneem Talal Azouz praises the conduction of the program. She admires the meticulousness of the trainers because of their continuous follow-ups during training and she is grateful for their guidance in helping her train in this field and overcome the hardships in the work environment. Like many women, Azouz joined the program because she wanted to serve the Hajj and Umrah pilgrims by working on the Harmain Express Train.
