Saudi Monthly Salary Revealed Gender-Based Disparity in Recent Report

As of the third quarter of 2023, statistics indicate an average monthly salary of SR9,872 for male employees in both government and private sectors, while female employees received an average of SR6,280. These figures, based on recent reports, highlight significant gender-based disparities in wages across sectors.

Government Sector Statistics

Within the government sector, male Saudi employees totaled 295,846, earning a combined monthly salary of SR4.16 billion. Conversely, 127,575 female Saudi employees received a total salary of SR1.64 billion. Notably, this data underscores a substantial contrast in average salaries, with Saudi women earning approximately SR12,872 compared to SR14,053 for Saudi men.

Non-Saudi Employees in Government Roles

In the government sector, non-Saudi female employees, numbering 39,866, earned a total of SR359.91 million, reflecting an average salary of SR9,028. Comparatively, the 73,365 non-Saudi male employees received a total of SR523.83 million, resulting in an average salary of SR7,140.

Private Sector Insights

Analysis of the private sector revealed further disparities. Non-Saudi women employees, approximately 621,715 in number, earned a total of SR2.23 billion, with an average salary of SR3,587. Conversely, 7.56 million non-Saudi male employees in the private sector received a total salary of SR19.09 billion, reflecting an average of SR2,523.

Gender-Based Disparities in Private Employment

Saudi employees in the private sector amounted to 1.35 million, receiving a total salary of SR12.05 billion. Among them, male Saudi employees received an average of SR8,953, while the 927,624 female Saudi employees earned a total of SR4.98 billion, averaging SR5,373 monthly.

The data reveals evident discrepancies in average salaries, raising concerns about gender-based wage disparities in both government and private employment sectors in Saudi Arabia.
