This is the first major signing for the team since Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard got appointed head coach earlier this month.

Al-Ettifaq shared that they were "thrilled" to have Henderson on board. "Henderson is ETTIFAQI," the tweet read.

Meanwhile, Liverpool FC thanked the midfielder for everything he did for the club during his impressive 12-year stint as a Red, during which he lifted eight trophies, all but one of which as club captain.

"Everybody at Liverpool Football Club wishes to place on record their thanks and gratitude for everything Jordan Henderson did for the club during his 12 years as a Red," the statement read.
