Jeddah Astronomy: Fall Season to Begin on September 22nd

The Jeddah Astronomical Society announced that the fall season will begin in the Northern Hemisphere on September 22 or 23, which is the beginning of spring in the Southern Hemisphere. On this day, daylight and darkness will be approximately equal in both hemispheres.

In the Northern Hemisphere, summer ends in September and the nights get longer. This is because the Earth's axis is tilted towards the sunless during this time of year. The return of the planets Jupiter and Saturn to the evening sky is a sign of autumn. In the Southern Hemisphere, the nights get shorter and the weather gets warmer in September.

Abu Zahra said that the sun's daily path across the sky in the Northern Hemisphere will gradually get shorter from September 22 to December 21, as the days get shorter.

At the same time, the sun's daily path across the sky in the Southern Hemisphere will gradually get higher, as the days get longer.

The moon will become a full moon on September 29, and it will be called the harvest moon because it occurs within ten days of the autumnal equinox.
