Plan Your Breaks: A List of Saudi Public Holidays 2024

As we approach 2024, it's time to mark your calendars for the upcoming Saudi public holidays, offering you the perfect opportunities to plan your well-deserved getaways.

Saudi Arabia will witness four exciting public holidays in 2024, providing residents with extended breaks to relax and enjoy some quality time off.

1. Saudi Founding Day (Thursday, February 22nd, 2024):

Kicking off the holiday calendar is Saudi Founding Day, falling on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024. Anticipate a long weekend starting from Wednesday, February 21st, 2024. Established in 2022, Founding Day commemorates the history of the Kingdom and the establishment of the first Saudi state. Residents celebrate with vibrant displays, including fireworks, drone shows, and joyful gatherings with friends and family.

2. Eid al Fitr (Expected: April 9th or 10th, 2024):

Eid al Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, is expected to fall on either Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, or Wednesday, April 10th, 2024. Plan for an extended break until Sunday, April 14th, 2024, or Monday, April 15th, 2024, depending on the moonsighting committee's confirmation.

3. Eid al Adha (Expected: June 17th–19th, 2024):

Following two months later is Eid al Adha, known as the festival of sacrifice. Expected to take place from Monday, June 17th, 2024, to Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, this Eid aligns with the Hajj pilgrimage, scheduled for Friday, June 14th, 2024. The sacred Day of Arafah is likely to fall on Sunday, June 16th, 2024.

4. Saudi National Day (Saturday, September 23rd, 2024):

The final public holiday of the year is Saudi National Day, celebrated on Saturday, September 23rd, 2024. This annual event is a significant patriotic celebration, allowing citizens to express their national pride.

While the dates of two holidays are officially confirmed, it's worth noting that Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha holidays are subject to Moon-sightings, a tradition that plays a role in determining the exact timing of certain celebrations. Scholars, however, can reliably estimate these dates within a two-to-three-day window. Make the most of these breaks and plan your vacations ahead with the official Saudi public holidays in 2024.
