Saudi Arabia Unveils Plan for Rig-Inspired Resort and Adventure Park

Get ready for a one-of-a-kind adventure like no other in Saudi Arabia! Brace yourselves for adrenaline-pumping adventure as THE RIG, a spectacular project by the Public Investment Fund, has finally revealed its master plan.

Inspired by offshore oil rigs (well, duh) and how they look, this initiative not only pays tribute to Saudi Arabia's rich oil and gas history but also will focus to create an oustanding adventure tourism moment. THE RIG is set to cover over 300,000 square meters and will be situated just 40 kilometers from the coastline which happens to be near Al Juraid Island and Berri Oil Field in the Arabian Gulf. Yes, Saudi Arabia did that!

THE RIG will be developed by the Oil Park Development Co., and will be aligned with PIF's strategy and Vision 2030 goals; meaning, adventure tourism will not only help the tourism sector grow, but also create job opportunities, and diversify the economy. 

The CEO of OPDC, Raed Bakhrji, spilled the beans on what awaits us at THE RIG. Think three marvelous hotels that are coming through with 800 rooms, and 11 world-class restaurants. Oh, and that's not all! The main stars of the whole show are going to be the extreme sports and adventure park, an otherworldly marina, and even helipads.
