How to Celebrate Saudi Founding Day?

When is the Saudi Founding Day?

Saudi Founding Day falls on Feb. 22 of every year and the holiday celebrates Diriyah becoming the first capital of the First Saudi state in 1727. 

Saudi citizens and residents will get a holiday on Feb. 22, including employees from all sectors, which means that the country will have a long three-day weekend. 

How to Celebrate Saudi Founding Day?

Fireworks 

There will be fireworks and drone shows at various locations across the Kingdom. 

Parades and Airshows

Citizens and residents can watch the parades marching for Saudi Founding Day and they can also watch the exciting airshows on the day of the event!

Founding Nights

To celebrate Saudi Founding Day, check out the Founding Nights event at the Abu Baker Salem Stage In Boulevard City, Riyadh from Feb. 21 to Feb. 22.

Founding Nights will feature poetry recitals and traditional music performances to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia.

Founding Village

Founding Village is open from Feb. 22 to Feb. 24 across 14 locations in the Kingdom. The Founding Village will feature immersive experiences, which will take visitors through a journey of Saudi Arabia's historical narratives. 

The village will also feature traditional crafts, interactive children’s areas, digital innovations, family entertainment, authentic Saudi culinary delights, and much more!

Symphony of the Beginning

This event will take place from Feb. 25 to Feb. 26 and it will feature an orchestral performance featuring the National Music Band and famous Saudi poets and composers. 

The Path of History

This is another immersive experience for visitors who want to learn more about Saudi Arabia's history. The event will take place at the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.

The venue will have a display of 19 scenes that chronicle the evolution of Saudi Arabia. The display is divided into three zones: The Gathering, The Journey, and The Celebration.

This is the perfect way to learn more about the Kingdom's history during the Saudi Founding Day!

The Saudi Founding Day is the perfect holiday to visit cultural landmarks and learn more about the country's history!

Saudi citizens and residents can visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Turaif, which was home to the founding family of Saudi Arabia Al Saud. 

Al Ula

Al Ula will be hosting an exciting programme for Saudi Founding Day from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25. The programme will feature colorful parades, exciting drone shows, traditional handcrafts, traditional foods, and live cooking stations. 

Shows and Concerts

There will be various concerts during the Saudi Founding Day holidays, which locals can enjoy!

If you're looking for comedic entertainment to welcome Saudi Founding Day, check out Lebanese comedian Imad Kehdy's show on Feb. 21 at the Anghami Lab.

On the night of Saudi Founding Day, there will be an exciting concert at Anghami Lab featuring DJ Morjan with his electric Arabic beats!

There will also be an Abdul Karim Abdul Qader Night, which will feature famous artists like Mohammed Abdo and Majid Al Mohandis dedicating performances to the great artist Abdul Karim Abdul Qader.

Another event that is taking place on the same day is DJ Chloe's concert at the Anghami Lab in Boulevard City. 

On the last day of the long weekend, there will be a Russel Peters show on Feb. 24 at the Princess Nourah University, so you can end this wonderful holiday with a night filled with laughter!
