Residents Without Permits Banned from Entering Makkah Ahead of Hajj

Residents of Saudi Arabia who do not have entry permits will not be allowed to enter Makkah through security control points from Monday, May 15th.

This move has been made to make preparations for the upcoming Hajj season, therefore all residents of the Kingdom are required to get a permit from the competent authorities.

Entry to the holy sites will be allowed to those who work at the holy sites and have entry permits, those with Umrah permits, or those with a resident's identity card issued by Makkah.

The General Directorate of Passports has started receiving applications for electronic entry permits to Makkah for the upcoming Hajj season for domestic resident workers, non-Saudi family members, workers residing in establishments based in Makkah, seasonal work visa holders, and contractors with establishments that are registered with the Ajeer system.

Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Makkah, is expected to begin on June 26th, depending on the moon sighting.
