Saudi Arabia Has Received WHO Certification for Eliminating Trans Fat

Saudi Arabia has received a certification from the World Health Organization for trans fat elimination. 

The WHO certification makes the Kingdom one of the first five countries in the world to receive this recognition. 

This achievement is part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals and the health sector transformation program, which is working towards improving measures against health hazards and providing healthier lifestyles in the Kingdom.

WHO Certification for Trans Fat Elimination

The criteria for receiving the WHO certification include implementing an efficient trans-fat elimination policy by the member state and integrating efficient monitoring and enforcement systems. 

An international technical advisory team from WHO analysed Saudi Arabia's legislation, the efficiency of the country's laboratories in analyzing artificial trans fats, and the country's mechanisms for controlling food products.

Other Countries who have Received the WHO Certification

Other than Saudi Arabia, the following countries have received WHO certification:

  • Denmark
  • Lithuania
  • Poland 
  • Thailand
