Makkah Records 181 Days above 45°C in 37 Years

According to a report by the National Center of Meteorology, Makkah witnessed the highest number of days with temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius between 1985 and 2022, totaling 181 days. Following Makkah were Al-Ahsa, with 167 days, Al-Qaysumah with 59 days, and Dammam with 54 days.

The report also revealed that Al-Qaysumah had the highest frequency of dust storms among Saudi cities, while Abha was the most exposed to thunderstorms during the same period.

According to a report from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the city of Al-Qaisumah experienced the highest number of dust storms, with 119 days between 1985 and 2022. Al-Ahsa followed with 110 days, Rafha with 99 days, Al-Qassim with 69 days, and Jazan with 66 days.

On the other hand, Abha witnessed the highest number of thunderstorms during the period, with 788 days, followed by Taif with 784 days, Al-Baha with 746 days, Khamis Mushait with 528 days, and Bisha with 296 days. Moreover, Khamis Mushait recorded the highest number of rainy days, with 363 days, followed by Al-Baha with 320 days, Taif with 295 days, Abha with 252 days, and Bisha with 201 days.

The National Center of Meteorology in Saudi Arabia  has released a report on the climatic statistics of various cities from 1985-2022. Makkah had the highest number of days with temperatures over 45 degrees Celsius, followed by Al-Ahsa, Al-Qaysumah, and Dammam. Abha had the highest number of thunderstorm days, and Khamis Mushait had the highest number of rainy days.
