The King Abdulaziz Road Opens for a Temporary Time Period in Makkah

Prince Badr bin Sultan, the Deputy Emir of Makkah, inaugurated the King Abdulaziz Road in Makkah on Monday, which will remain open temporarily to accommodate locals and pilgrims.

The Umm Al-Qura for Development and Reconstruction Company, the developer of Masar Destination, opened the road for a temporary time period to serve the buses and guests of hotels in the Central Haram area until the Masar Destination infrastructure works are completed.

The road is 3.65 km long and 40 m wide in each direction. Its temporary opening is in line with the directives of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites. The road is part of the commission's efforts to allow easier movement of pilgrims and visitors during the month of Ramadan.

During his visit, the Deputy Emir also opened the project to complete the first ring road, which will serve areas adjacent to the Grand Mosque with a length of 4.6 km including three lanes in each direction.
