Visitors to Prophet's Mosque Received More Than 230,000 Iftar Meals

The visitors to the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah have received more than 230,000 iftar meals. There were 142,351 meals provided outside the Prophet's Mosque in addition to 87,805 meals within the mosque.

To protect the safety of those who are fasting, the Agency of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Prophet's Mosque organizes the iftar ceremony and the preparation of the meals through sofra companies or through a catering service that has been approved. Only a select few foods are permitted within the Prophet's Mosque, and they must be provided to fasting persons in line with their health needs. The food items are dates, yogurt, bread, pies, coffee, and tea.

More than 2,160 iftar sofra are located in the men's area of the mosque, while 879 are located in the women's sector, according to Walid Al-Jihani, the director of the Department of Iftar Services for Fasting People at the Prophet's Mosque.

Following the Asr prayer, meals are delivered to those who are fasting through designated doors located throughout the Prophet's Mosque. The Prophet's Mosque staff and the sofra owners work together to oversee the arrival of food sofra till they are withdrawn in a planned way just before the Maghrib prayer.
