The President of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, various officials, and a group of citizens also participated in the ceremony.
The kiswah of the Kaaba covering its exterior -- which was recently replaced at the beginning of the Islamic year -- was lifted in preparation for the washing ceremony.
The ceremony was followed by Sunnah prayers.
In 2022, the washing ceremony was led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, also on behalf of King Salman.
