Saudi Arabia Rejects Qur'an Desecration & Sees it Unacceptable

On Monday, Saudi Arabia restated its stance that any act of disrespect towards the Holy Qu'ran is not acceptable, regardless of the reasons provided. The country emphasized the need for serious measures to prevent the repetition of incidents involving the burning of the holy book.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, made this statement during the virtual opening session of the Extraordinary Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), including 57 member countries.

At the request of Saudi Arabia, which is currently chairing the 14th Islamic Summit, an Extraordinary Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was called to address the issue of repeated incidents of desecration and burning of the Holy Qur'an in several Western countries, including Sweden and Denmark. The meeting aimed to discuss the appropriate measures to tackle this matter.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan also stated that these actions violate international covenants promoting harmony, peace, and understanding, while contradicting efforts to spread tolerance, moderation, and reject extremism. Such behavior violates the principles of mutual respect essential for fostering better relations between nations and peoples.
