Saudi Ranks Third Most Sleep Deprived Country in the World

Saudi Arabia has been identified as the third country globally for the shortest sleep duration, as revealed by Dr. Mana Al Shahrani, a Consultant in Sleep Medicine at King Fahd Medical City. During a televised discussion on Al Ekhbariya TV, Dr. Al Shahrani underscored the widespread issue of sleep deprivation among Saudis, who typically average only 6 to 7 hours of sleep per night.

Ramadan Effects

Dr. Al Shahrani cautioned against a common practice among Saudis of staying awake for 24 hours to reset sleep patterns after Ramadan. He emphasized that such prolonged sleep deprivation can have severe repercussions on physical health, akin to the effects of alcohol consumption.
