Saudi Traffic Launches E-Monitoring of Vehicle Insurance

The Saudi General Traffic Department launched a new system on Sunday, October 1, 2023, to automatically detect and fine drivers who do not have valid vehicle insurance.

The Saudi Traffic Department has announced that it will be using a new system to automatically monitor vehicles for valid insurance. The system will be used in all cities and governorates across the Kingdom, and it will scan license plates every 15 days. If a vehicle's insurance is not valid, the driver will receive a fine.

To inquire about the validity of vehicle insurance in Saudi Arabia, these five steps can be followed:

  1. Log into your Absher account.
  2. Go to Vehicle Services > Inquiries.
  3. Choose Validity of Vehicle Insurance.
  4. Fill out the required fields: ID number, plate number, and visual icon.
  5. The validity of your insurance will be displayed.

It is worth noting that it is regarded as a violation to drive without valid vehicle insurance in Saudi Arabia. The minimum fine for this violation is SR100 and the maximum fine is SR150.

The Saudi Traffic Department is warning all drivers, both citizens and expatriates, to comply with traffic regulations and instructions, including making sure their vehicles have valid insurance. This is important to safeguard their rights in the event of any traffic accidents.
