361 Smugglers Arrested by Saudi Authorities in Recent Drug Busts

This month, Saudi officials prevented attempts to smuggle massive quantities of drugs into the Kingdom, leading to the arrest of hundreds of smugglers.

Col. Misfer Al-Quraini, a spokesman for the Border Guards, reported that 361 smugglers, including 23 Saudis, 261 Yemenis, 70 Ethiopians, and 7 Eritreans, had been arrested.

In addition, he said that between December 3 and December 24, land patrols in Najran, Jazan, Asir, and Tabuk foiled attempts to smuggle 29.2 tons of khat and 766 kilograms of hashish. Al-Quraini continued by saying that the first legal proceedings had been taken against them and that the items had been given to the appropriate authority.
