Saudi Man Wakes up from 4-Year Coma to a World Changed by Covid-19

Fares Abu Batin, a Saudi man who had been in a coma for four years, awoke to a world that had undergone changes unimaginable, in what may be described as a true time-travel story.

In an interview with Al Arabiya TV, Fares described the unexpected changes he encountered after regaining consciousness, bringing the amazing story to light.

In September 2019, Fares and his two brothers were in a car accident that involved a collision with a camel.  His two brothers tragically passed away, and Fares, who suffered serious injuries and only had a low 9% chance of surviving, fell into a coma. He stayed in the hospital until March 20, 2023, unconscious.

When Fares gained consciousness, one of his first actions was to request the Quran. He was shocked by the profound changes that had occurred during the time he was unconscious when he became reacquainted with everything around him. He said, “I noticed many changes in society, and I found urban development in the country quite significant.”

“I was surprised when I woke up after many events, including the emergence of the pandemic. People told me about COVID-19 or something called the corona pandemic, and I didn’t understand it and saw videos on YouTube,” he further added.

Additionally, Fares discovered that women in the kingdom now have the right to drive. He was also pleasantly delighted to see that during his absence, his wife had managed to find work and raise their children by herself.
