You Will Be Fined SR50000 If You Trespassed on Public Property!

The Saudi Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has announced new penalties for various municipal violations. The penalties for trespassing on public property, such as stealing electricity from lighting poles, have been increased to between SAR 10,000 and SAR 50,000.

Establishments that raise the prices of their products above the levels fixed by the Minister of Commerce or by the competent authorities will be penalized. The penalty will consist of the amount of the difference between the standard price and the selling price, plus a fine of between SAR 5,000 and SAR 100,000.

The Saudi Ministry of Commerce has amended the regulation governing construction work. The amended regulation stipulates that fines ranging from SAR 10,000 to SAR 50,000 will be imposed on establishments that begin construction work without a license. Fines ranging from SAR 6,000 to SAR 30,000 will be imposed on firms that fail to arrange an approved consulting office for digging work.

In accordance with the updated rules, fines will be calculated based on the categorizations established by the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha'at), as well as by local mayoralties and municipalities.

The regulation specifies that the payment rates will be adjusted based on the scale of the enterprise. This adjustment ensures that the percentages correspond to 25 percent for micro-enterprises, 50 percent for small establishments, 75 percent for medium-sized businesses, and 100 percent for large establishments, in relation to the fine amount.

The revised regulations are designed to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by creating a more favorable environment for them to operate in. The regulations also aim to protect the rights of all parties involved in commercial activities, and to improve the quality of life and the urban landscape.
